Lunar New Year is a big celebration not only for us Hong Kongers, but also for Koreans. This month, we will go to K-Town in Burquitlam (aka Burnaby/Coquitlam) to see how Koreans prepare for their Lunar New Year (Seollal (설날) ).
Seollal (설날) is the biggest holiday of the year, and it is a day when the entire family gathers in hanbok, traditional Korean clothes, to do saebae, which is the most important tradition. It is an act of bowing deeply with respect to wish a happy new year to elders while saying "Saehae bok mani badsaeyo" (새해 복 많이 받으세요).
